FACIAL RECONTOURING
The shape of the face can be altered through various surgical procedures. These include liposuction of the jawline, Botox injections to the masseter muscles, buccal fat removal, cheek augmentation, nasal augmentation and chin augmentation.
Liposuction of the jawline
This procedure is done under local anaesthesia. 2 small cuts are made just below the earlobes and fat is sucked out with a very fine cannula. There may be some swelling for about a week.
Botox injections to Masseter muscles
A small amount of Botox is injected into each masseter muscle. This causes the muscle to atrophy hence making the jaws slimmer. Botox injections may be repeated one or two times to achieve the desired result. After this, the shape can be maintained in most patients with a top-up injection 9 months later.
Buccal fat removal
There is a dispensable area of fat located in the cheeks called the buccal fat pad. Removal of this buccal fat pad will result in slight hollowing of the cheeks. Done in conjunction with the above 2 procedures, it can result in a slimmer jawline.
