About

Botox injections have been found to reduce facial lines and wrinkles due to sun exposure and expression lines (forehead lines and frown lines are softened and often erased with treatment.) Botulinum toxins have been used for neck spasms, cranial nerve disorders and eye spasms. With the FDA approval of Botox for cosmetic use in the glabella region, the drug is used to smooth out wrinkles. When injected into facial muscles, botulinum toxins block nerve impulses, temporarily freezing muscles and smoothing wrinkles. Currently Botox is the only form of botulinum toxin approved by the FDA for cosmetic purposes in the glabella region.

How does Botox reduce the signs of aging?

Botox is a purified form of the botulinum toxin. It is injected in miniscule amounts into the appropriate muscle causing the muscle to relax and thus diminish or eliminate the dynamic line or furrow. Botox has been used for over ten years to treat ophthalmological disorders, and is fast becoming the chosen non-surgical treatment to reverse signs of aging. After treatment, a patient treated with Botox can still frown and smile, but the expression wrinkles around the eyes and forehead are diminished when they do. Normal facial expression is unaffected. Correction with Botox is very natural, and most patients treated feel that they have a more wide-eyed, rested and less angry look.

What areas can be treated with Botox?

Most commonly Botox is used around the eyes (crow's feet) and on the forehead (frown lines) to reduce dynamic lines and furrows. It can also be used to treat prominent neck bands or cords. Botox injections are also highly successful for the treatment of excess sweating of the palms, soles and armpits. Botox can be used to reduce prominent jaw that gives us the square face look and the results are usually very satisfying for our patients.

How long does Botox correction last?

Botox correction lasts an average of 3-4 months. After repeated injections the results may be even longer lasting.

What can I expect from the procedure?

Botox treatments are merely a simple injection. Mostly describe the injection sensation as feeling like a bug bite. The treatment is performed literally in a matter of minutes. No specific care is needed after the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effect of Botox treatment is a temporary bruising at the injection site. This generally goes away within a couple of days, and can be covered up with makeup. In rare cases the Botox can travel, causing a droop in an eyelid. The effects are completely temporary.

How soon after treatment will I see results?

The effects of Botox become apparent in the first 5 - 7 days after treatment.

Is Botox safe?

Yes, Botox is safe. It has been used for over ten years to treat ophthalmological and neurological disorders.
How is the procedure done?

A few drops of Botox are injected with a tiny needle into the muscle, blocking the nerve impulses that cause the contractions. As the stimulation to the muscle weakens, the lines gradually soften, giving you a more refreshed, relaxed, highly natural looking appearance. The procedure is so quick and simple that clients often have it done on their lunch hour.

Botox for Facial Contouring

A square jaw may result from overdeveloped muscles in the jawline. This may be as a result of excessive chewing or grinding of the teeth. Botox is a highly successful treatment that can beautifully contour the lower face and create a slimmer jaw. 2 to 3 treatments are required at monthly intervals and the results can last for 9 to 12 months.

Botox for Excessive Sweating

Sweat glands require a nerve impulse to activate. Without this stimulation, they won't secrete. By injecting Botox into problem areas such as underarms, hands and feet, the related nerve impulse is temporarily relaxed and prevented from reaching the sweat gland. Thus, stops sweat production in the treated area. The treatment is as simple as it sounds. All patients report a substantial decrease in sweating within two days. The results last for about 9 to 12 months and can be subsequently repeated.

Micro-Botox

Newer information has shown that Botox also affects sebaceous glands (oil glands), blood vessels in the face and skin texture. Mirco-botox is the latest technique for refining faces! Micro injections of very small doses of botox are distributed superficially all over the face to diminish fine wrinkles without muscle paralysis. Patients also feel that their face looks "lifted" & firmer and their skin texture more refined after a session of this innovative treatment.

This treatment is excellent for rejuvenating the rest of face after botox treatment for the major frown lines and wrinkles. For patients seeking to refine their skin and tighten their pores almost overnight, this treatment is ideal as well.
