About

Microdermabrasion involves the use a fine jet of micro-crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate your skin. Vacuum suction is then applied to remove the crystals with the dead skin cells leaving you with new, softer skin and more even skin texture.

In addition to surface exfoliation, Microdermabrasion promotes the production of new cells in the basal (deepest) layer of the dermis, clears the pores and stimulates collagen production that can further improve skin texture. Combined with IPL Skin Rejuvenation, it provides a perfect match for improvement of skin imperfections and maintenance of a smooth and glowing skin.

Microdermabrasion can be successfully used on light or dark skin to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees and hands. It is generally indicated for fine lines; sun damaged coarse skin texture; uneven scars; hyperpigmentation; blemishes and dull skin.

This is a simple, quick and convenient procedure which has become very popular with patients showing the early signs of sun-damaged skin and other facial imperfections. Being a non-invasive procedure it causes virtually no discomfort and does not result in downtime. Patients may experience some redness for about an hour after the procedure.

How is the procedure done?

The treatment area is first cleansed, after which a precise stream of micro-crystals is delivered to gently exfoliate your skin. The scale-like, lifeless epidermal cells and the crystals are then suctioned back into the same hand piece leaving a fresh, invigorated skin surface.

Does Microdermabrasion hurt?

Not really. It may sting a little around the eye area. The strength of delivery of the jet of micro-crystals is progressively increased with each session to increase the depth of skin exfoliation. Your skin may feel a little hot and appear a little pink immediately after your treatment.

How long does the procedure take and how many will I need?

Microdermabrasion is a quick procedure that usually takes between 30 minutes. We recommend that you start with 5-10 sessions, once every two to three weeks. Following your initial treatment you can then commence on a maintenance programme every 1-3 months. Most patients will see improvement after just a few treatments. Severe skin problems, such as deep acne scars and dark spots will take several treatments before any improvement is noticeable

Can I combine Microdermabrasion with another procedure?

Yes. Microdermabrasion is the perfect compliment to other procedures such as Botox; Fillers; and IPL/RF Skin Rejuvenation.
