About

Browlift is a surgical procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping eyebrows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.

Dr Fok performs browlift with the use of an endoscope - Endoscopic Browlift. It involves making 4 small incisions on the scalp which are hidden within the hairline. The muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping can be removed or altered to smoothen the forehead and raise the eyebrows. Recovery is smooth and almost no bruising is present.

WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR A BROWLIFT

Browlift is most commonly performed in patients in their age between 40-60. It will minimize the visible effects of aging. In addition, it can also help people of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress or increase muscle activity. Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brows or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure.

Endoscopic Browlift is often performed in conjunction with a Facelift to provide a smoother overall look to the face. Upper eyelid surgery (Upper Blepharoplasty) may also be performed at the same time, especially if a patient has significant skin overhanging in the upper eyelids. Sometimes, patients who believe they need an upper-eyelid surgery may find that a browlift better meets their desired result.

Patients who are bald, who have a receding hairline, or who have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for brow lift.

What happens on the day of surgery?

Endoscopic Browlift is performed in our ambulatory surgery centre under local anaesthesia with twilight sedation. Surgery usually takes about two hours. Patient will be asleep and insensitive to pain throughout the entire procedure. A bandage may be applied and an ice pack will also be placed on both eyes to aid in controlling swelling and bruising post operatively while resting in the recovery area.

What to expect during the recovery phase?

There will be some swelling and bruising for a few days to 2 weeks depending on individual’s healing ability. There may be minimal discomfort and can be controlled by pain killers prescribed by Dr Fok. Sutures will be removed after 10 to 14 days. Some numbness of the scalp and forehead is expected; it usually will resolve in a few weeks or months.
